The practice prepares concept plans and masterplans for multi element projects, redevelopment schemes & residential projects with realistic yet inventive solutions.

Site Analysis, Visual Analysis & Concept Analysis form key elements of any project.

The Belfast Gasworks masterplan is a significant example of our work, as is the “Mays Meadow” Laganside project in Belfast.

Alan Cook has acted as expert witness in many significant construction industry cases over the past decade, utilising his long experience & analytical approach to key issue appraisal and problem resolution.

We believe buildings should be at one with their setting and location and offer the service to design siteworks and landscape of any scheme irrespective of scale.

The Stableyard garden at the Culloden Hotel is a good example of this philosophy.

We have integrated "Secured by Design" standard into our more recent projects and subscribe to its aims.

Properties with a "Secured by Design" award avail of two main benefits:

1. Significantly reduced risk of break-in.

2. Potential 10-15% reduction in insurance costs.

Under the Disability Act (DDA) it has become a statutory requirement for new buildings to be designed to a standard that eliminates any physical features, which preclude someone with a disability from accessing and using a building.

The implementation of the DDA has also had an impact on the many existing buildings where the public may visit requiring them to be modified to comply with Regulations.

We have a proven track record in the field of disability access.

We can work with any client to assess DDA requirements and assist in the upgrade.

The upgrade of the Hotel Bristol, Newquay in 2005 and the more recent adaptations to The Old Inn Crawfordsburn and Bangor Rugby Club are just 3 examples of our work.

SAP energy ratings are a government requirement which are used to measure the overall energy efficiency of a dwelling. These take into account the orientation, fenestration-heating source, heating controls and materials used in each.
